We Are Overcome
We are not merely survivors, scraping through the fray,
We are not clinging victors by the thinnest thread each day.
We areovercome—a tidal wave of grace,
More than conquerorsin this and every place.
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. (Romans 8:37)
Overcome by mercy, that sought us when we fled.
Overcome by power, that raised Christ from the dead.
Overcome by love that laid its own glory down,
To place on us the unconquerable, righteous crown.
The world sees a victim, but Heaven shouts a king.
The world hears a sigh, but through us victory rings.
For the battle’s outcome was decided long ago,
On the cross where His great“It is finished!” laid the foe.
They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony. (Revelation 12:11)
So we face no giant, no grief, no rising fear,
From a posture of weakness, but with triumph crystal clear.
We march into the conflict from the high ground of His rest,
Knowing in our overcoming,we are profoundly, fully blessed.
We are overcome.
Saturated. Engulfed. Won.
Not by our might, but by His love, through His Son.
We are more than conquerors.
This is our story, our song.
Amen.
