Keep Us in Prayer
A Reflection on 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, Ephesians 6:18, and Colossians 4:2
Keep us in prayer, Lord—not just when we are weak,
But in the daily rhythms, in the moments when we seek
Your face, Your will, Your way, Your grace,
Let prayer be the constant in every time and place.
Pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
Keep us in prayer—when we wake and when we sleep,
When the path is smooth and when the climb is steep.
Let prayer be our anchor, our compass, our song,
The place where we find that we truly belong.
Keep us in prayer—over our families, our friends,
Our homes, our work, our beginnings, our ends.
Let the Spirit intercede with groans too deep for words,
And let our prayers be heard, O Lord.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people. (Ephesians 6:18)
Keep us in prayer—not just for our own needs,
But for the church, the world, the seeds
That You have planted, the harvest yet to come.
Let our prayers rise like incense, a sweet and holy sum.
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.
Let not our prayers grow weary or our spirits sink.
Keep us, Lord, in the place of prayer,
And let us know that You are there.
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. (Colossians 4:2)
Keep us in prayer—protect us from the enemy's schemes,
Guard our hearts, our minds, our dreams.
Let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts,
And let us never depart from prayer.
So we lift our voices, we lift our hands,
We lift our lives to You in prayer.
Keep us in prayer, Lord—this is our plea,
Now and for all eternity.
Amen.
