Great Are You, Lord
A Reflection on Psalm 145:3, Psalm 86:10, and Revelation 15:3-4
Great are You, Lord—not by measure, not by degree,
But by the boundless, endless depth of Your majesty.
The heavens declare Your glory, the earth proclaims Your name,
And all creation testifies to Your eternal flame.
Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom. (Psalm 145:3)
Great in power—You spoke the worlds to birth,
You hold the universe in Your hands, You rule the heavens and the earth.
The winds obey Your whisper, the seas bow to Your will,
The mountains melt like wax before the One who is still.
Great in mercy—You do not treat us as our sins deserve,
You lift the fallen, heal the broken, and help us to preserve.
Your compassions never fail, Your love is ever true,
You are the God who makes all things new.
For You are great and do marvelous deeds; You alone are God. (Psalm 86:10)
Great in love—a love that reaches to the skies,
A love that never fails, that never dies.
You sent Your Son to bear our shame,
To break the curse, to call us by name.
Great in faithfulness—through every generation,
Your promises endure, Your truth is our foundation.
You never leave, You never fail,
Your faithfulness will forever prevail.
“Great and marvelous are Your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are Your ways, King of the nations.” (Revelation 15:3)
Great are You, Lord—in the quiet and the storm,
In the valley and the mountain, in the cold and in the warm.
You are the same yesterday, today, and forever,
The One who holds us and will leave us never.
So I join the chorus of the saints and angels above,
Singing, “Great are You, Lord!” with a heart full of love.
Great are You, Lord—my song, my prayer, my plea,
Forever and always, You are all I need.
Amen.
