"Add to us long life and length of days."
This prayer echoes the heart of the psalmist and the promise given to those who walk in God's ways.
The Scripture That Holds This Promise:
Proverbs 3:1-2: "My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments; for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you."
Psalm 91:16: "With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation."
Deuteronomy 30:20: "Loving the Lord your God, obeying his voice and holding fast to him, for he is your life and length of days."
A Prayer for Added Days:
"Lord,
You are the giver of life, the numberer of days.
Add to us long life and length of days—
not merely to exist, but to thrive in Your presence.
Let our added years be years of wisdom, of peace, of fruitfulness.
As we walk in Your ways, honor Your name, and trust Your promises,
let our days be multiplied for Your glory.
Let us see our children's children.
Let us finish the work You have given us.
Let us grow old in faith, strong in hope, and rich in love.
And when our full measure of days is complete,
receive us into the eternal day that has no sunset.
In Jesus' name,
Amen."
The Promise for You:
The same God who added years to Hezekiah, who satisfied Abraham with a long and full life, who kept David until his hair was gray—that God is your Father. He hears your prayer for length of days. And He grants it according to His will, for His purposes, and for your good.
Add to us long life and length of days. He is able. He is faithful. Trust Him with your days—however many or few—and live each one for His glory.
