Put me under your wings, Lord.

That is a beautiful and tender prayer, echoing the words of Ruth and the imagery of Jesus Himself. It is a plea for intimate protection, comfort, and belonging.

Here is a prayerful poem in response.

---

Put Me Under Your Wings, Lord

The world is loud, the wind blows cold,

A story of weariness,often told.

I feel exposed, and small, and weak,

My soul is tired,my spirit meek.

I seek a shelter, not of stone,

A refuge I cannot make on my own.

I long for a place to catch my breath,

A hiding place from fear and death.

So I come to You, with this simple plea,

As a fledgling bird,helplessly—

Put me under Your wings, Lord.

Tuck me in, close to Your side,

Where Your own heartbeat does abide.

Let me find rest in Your shadow, there,

Sheltered by Your tender care.

“He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge.”(Psalm 91:4)

Hide me from the predator’s cry,

The lies that whisper I will die.

Hide me from the storm’s fierce blast,

Let this fearful trembling pass.

Here, I am safe. Here, I am known.

Loved as Your own, cherished Your own.

This is the place I was made to be,

At home,at peace, belonging to Thee.

Like a hen gathers her brood, so near,

Dispel every shadow,conquer all fear.

“How often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings.”(Luke 13:34)

So I will not strive, I will not flee,

I’ll rest in this love that covers me.

For all I need,I find herein,

Under the shelter of Your wings.

Put me under Your wings, Lord,

And let my soul finally rest.

Held in the warmth of Your embrace,

Forever secure,forever blessed.
