Attributes of God

 Here is an exploration of God's attributes, rooted in Scripture and organized to reflect His infinite, holy, and loving nature:

### **The Attributes of God**  

*(Revealed in Scripture & Experienced Through Christ)*


#### **1. Eternal & Self-Existent (Aseity)**  

- **"Before the mountains were born, or You brought forth the earth... from everlasting to everlasting, You are God."** (Psalm 90:2)  

- God depends on nothing; all life flows from Him (Acts 17:25).  

- *In Christ*: Jesus declared, **"Before Abraham was, I AM"** (John 8:58), claiming divine eternality.


#### **2. Omnipotent (All-Powerful)**  

- **"Nothing is impossible with God."** (Luke 1:37)  

- Creator of all things (Genesis 1:1), Sustainer of all (Colossians 1:17).  

- *In Christ*: **"All authority in heaven and earth has been given to Me."** (Matthew 28:18)


#### **3. Omniscient (All-Knowing)**  

- **"His understanding is beyond measure."** (Psalm 147:5)  

- Knows every thought, past, present, future (Psalm 139:1–4).  

- *In Christ*: **"He knew all people and needed no one to bear witness about man, for He Himself knew what was in man."** (John 2:24–25)


#### **4. Omnipresent (Everywhere Present)**  

- **"Where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there!"** (Psalm 139:7–8)  

- Fills heaven and earth (Jeremiah 23:24).  

- *In Christ*: **"Where two or three are gathered in My name, there am I among them."** (Matthew 18:20)


#### **5. Immutable (Unchanging)**  

- **"I the LORD do not change."** (Malachi 3:6)  

- His character, promises, and purposes remain forever (James 1:17).  

- *In Christ*: **"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever."** (Hebrews 13:8)


#### **6. Holy**  

- **"Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty!"** (Isaiah 6:3)  

- Perfectly pure, separate from sin (Habakkuk 1:13).  

- *In Christ*: Jesus is **"the Holy One of God"** (Mark 1:24) who makes us holy (Hebrews 10:10).


#### **7. Just & Righteous**  

- **"The LORD is righteous in all His ways."** (Psalm 145:17)  

- Judges with perfect fairness (Psalm 7:11).  

- *In Christ*: **"He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world."** (1 John 2:2)


#### **8. Loving**  

- **"God is love."** (1 John 4:8)  

- Gave His Son to redeem sinners (John 3:16).  

- *In Christ*: **"Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends."** (John 15:13)


#### **9. Merciful & Gracious**  

- **"The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love."** (Psalm 103:8)  

- Forgives rebellion (Exodus 34:6–7).  

- *In Christ*: **"By grace you have been saved through faith."** (Ephesians 2:8)


#### **10. Sovereign**  

- **"Our God is in heaven; He does whatever pleases Him."** (Psalm 115:3)  

- Rules over nations, history, and salvation (Daniel 4:35).  

- *In Christ*: **"All things were created through Him and for Him... and in Him all things hold together."** (Colossians 1:16–17)


#### **11. Faithful & True**  

- **"Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; He is the faithful God."** (Deuteronomy 7:9)  

- Never breaks His promises (Numbers 23:19).  

- *In Christ*: **"I am the way, the truth, and the life."** (John 14:6)


#### **12. Trinity: Father, Son, Holy Spirit**  

- **"Go and make disciples... baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."** (Matthew 28:19)  

- One God in three Persons, co-equal and eternal.  

- *Revealed in Christ*: At Jesus’ baptism (Matthew 3:16–17) and in His teaching (John 14:16–17).

- **Worship**: We adore Him for *who He is*, not just what He does.  

- **Trust**: His power, love, and faithfulness anchor our souls.  

- **Humility**: His holiness exposes our need for a Savior.  

- **Mission**: His sovereignty fuels our courage to proclaim Christ.  

- **Prayer**: His grace invites us boldly before His throne (Hebrews 4:16).
