In Anything, Praise God
A Reflection on 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
In anything, praise God—not when life is perfect or clear,
Not when the path is smooth and the skies are clear.
But in the storm, in the trial, in the unknown,
In the silence, in the struggle, when you feel alone.
Praise Him in the morning, when the sun begins to rise,
Praise Him in the evening, when the moon adorns the skies.
Praise Him in the valley, when the shadows stretch so deep,
Praise Him on the mountain, when the promises you keep.
In anything—not just the good, but the hard,
Not just the victories, but the wounds and the scars.
In the waiting, in the pain, in the loss,
In the questions that leave you at a loss.
Praise—not because you understand,
But because you trust the Father's hand.
Not because you see the plan,
But because you know the Great I AM.
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
Praise—a weapon in the battle,
A shield against the enemy's rattle.
It breaks the chains, it lifts the gloom,
It brings light into the darkest room.
In anything, praise God—for He is good,
For His mercy endures, as it always should.
He is working all things for your good,
Even when you misunderstand or misjudge.
So I will praise Him—not just in times of ease,
But in the storms, in the trials, in the mysteries.
I will praise Him with my voice, I will praise Him with my life,
I will praise Him through the joy and through the strife.
In anything, praise God—this is my song,
My declaration, my whole life long.
For He is worthy, He is true,
And I will praise Him in all I do.
Praise the Lord, O my soul!
Amen.
