This is one of the most tender and trusting images in all of Scripture—a plea to be sheltered in the intimate, protective presence of God. It speaks of a desire for safety, comfort, and nearness.
Here is a prayer and poem to express that deep longing.

Under Your Wings
The world is loud, and I am small, I hear the tempest,I feel the squall. I need a place to hide away, Until the breaking of the day.
I need a refuge, safe and warm, A shelter from the coming storm. Not just a roof,or walls of stone, But a presence that is all my own.
So I come to You, with this request, To where the weary are given rest. Put me under Your wings.
He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. (Psalm 91:4)
Let me hide in the shadow of Your grace, In that secret, holy place. Where the noise of fear cannot come in, And where healing can begin.
Tuck me in, close to Your side, Where all my anxieties subside. Let me feel the gentle rise and fall Of Your great heart, that holds my all.
Under Your wings, I am not alone, You claim me as Your very own. The foe may look, but cannot see The child You are protecting,Me.
Here, I find warmth against the cold, A love more precious far than gold. Here,I find peace instead of fight, And strength emerging from the night.
So pull me close, and hold me near, And quiet every trembling fear. I am under Your wings. And here,my soul, in safety sings.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
