Amen. What a profound and beautiful truth. To be "hidden in God together with Christ" is one of the most secure and identity-shaping realities for the believer. It speaks of our ultimate safety, our new identity, and our eternal union with Jesus.
This glorious truth is explicitly stated in the book of Colossians:
"For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God."
- Colossians 3:3 (ESV)
What Does It Mean to Be "Hidden with Christ in God"?
This phrase describes a multi-layered, spiritual reality:
1. Our Safety and Security: When something is "hidden," it is protected, kept safe, and secure. Our true, eternal life is not visible to the world, nor is it vulnerable to the enemy's attacks. It is safeguarded in the impregnable fortress of God's own being.
2. Our New Identity: Our old, sinful self has been crucified with Christ (Galatians 2:20). The person we are now—our new creation life—is so intertwined with Jesus that when God looks at us, He sees His beloved Son. We are wrapped up in Christ's righteousness.
3. Our Source of Life: Just as a branch draws its life from the vine while being hidden within the vineyard, we draw our spiritual life, nourishment, and strength from our connection to Christ, who is in God.
A Prayer of Thanksgiving for This Truth
Heavenly Father,
We are in awe of this incredible mystery and gift. Thank You that because of Jesus' death and resurrection, our true life is now hidden with Christ in You.
We thank You for the absolute security this brings. No accusation of the enemy, no failure of our own, and no power of this world can touch the life we have in You.
We thank You for our new identity. We are not who we used to be. We are hidden in Christ, clothed in His righteousness, and deeply loved as Your children.
Help us to live from this place of security and identity today. When we feel exposed or attacked, remind us that we are safe in You.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
A Poem: "Hidden in God"
"Hidden in God"
Exposed and vulnerable, my soul once lay,
A target for the darkness and the fray.
But then Your grace,so mighty and so free,
Reached down and lovingly rescued me.
You placed me in Your Son, the Risen One,
And said the work was fully, finally done.
My life is now no longer on display,
You took my soul and hid it all away.
Hidden in God, together with Christ,
A truth so rich,it has sufficed.
To still my heart and calm my fear,
To know my Savior is ever near.
No enemy's eye can see this place,
No foe can breach this wall of grace.
For in the heart of God I dwell,
Where peace and joy do ever swell.
So let the storms of life now rage,
They cannot touch this hidden stage.
My life is safe,my soul is sealed,
My future,glorious, is revealed.
I am hidden, I am safe, I am secure,
In Christ,my hope is ever sure.
Together with Him,in God I'll be,
For all eternity.
Rest in this truth today. You are not defined by your circumstances, your failures, or the opinions of others. Your true self—the person God is making you to be—is safely hidden in Christ, in the very heart of God. You are secure.
